PEAK PERSPECTIVES: Thank you Prairie Mountain Media

This week marks a very sad week for us. It is our last week printing with Prairie Mountain Media. We’ve had an amazing partnership with them for over a decade and they have been absolutely amazing to work with. We are blessed to know every person there (40 people are losing their jobs because of this press closure), but wanted to say a very special thank you to Chris Klein and Randolph Catton. So to both of them (and the entire Prairie Mountain crew), I say, thank you for always helping us, for having my back when I needed an extra hour, for telling me what I needed to know and for sharing your incredible work with us at The Mountain-Ear. We will truly miss working with you.

So, what’s next? We are thankful to have found a printing press that is working with us to continue our publication. They are located a bit farther away, in Aurora, and we are figuring out details of pickup next week. The page size is different, so a new template is being created. Things will look different for a few weeks as we work into this new template.

In the midst of all of this, we are creating our Studio Tour guide (with another printer we have worked with before). It will hit stands before the end of August (if you haven’t signed up, email marketing@themountainear.com for info).

We are also switching web providers and preparing for that transition, among many others.

And, then we have had a few staff leave and brought a few new staff on, to be introduced in an upcoming edition. We can’t wait to tell you about each of them (they’re all in our community of course).

Regardless, I want to say a personal thanks to a few staff members that have really been rising above and beyond in the last few weeks. While on deadline with all of the chaos that is part of life these days, Sara Sandstrom, Lynn Hirshman, Christopher Kelley and Jamie Lammers have been working extra hard to make this paper happen. I want to recognize each for their weekly contributions and say a HUGE thank you for being part of the TEAM. Special thanks to Omayra Acevedo for her hard work on the Studio Tour as well.

And for me, personally, I am heading out for just a few short days to take my son to college. As you can imagine it is a super busy time for all of us.

We thank you for your patience during this transition and can’t wait to share what’s happening next!

As always, The Mountain-Ear is YOUR community source for news, created by locals, FOR locals. If you have any questions, email info@themountainear.com or call 303-810-5409.
