Gilpin County Sheriff’s Reports, April 2024

On 4//2/24, at approximately 1:52 p.m., a Gilpin County officer received a report of cold theft and is currently under investigation.

On 4/3/24, at approximately 8:49 a.m., a Gilpin County officer was on standby for an eviction when prescribed medication was turned over to the officer. This was later booked into evidence for destruction.

On 4/4/24, at approximately 5:47 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a possible DUI. Upon further investigation the driver was deemed to not be DUI and was issued a citation for other traffic infractions.  

On 4/4/24, at approximately 9:48 a.m., an officer responded to the report of a possible forged check. Upon further investigation it was determined that it was not a forged check and no charges were filed.

On 4/4/24, an officer took a fraud report for unauthorized use of a debit card.

On 4/8/24, at approximately 4 a.m., a female party entered the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office lobby to surrender herself on a warrant. Deputies responded and confirmed the warrant was valid. The female party was taken into custody without incident.

On 4/8/24, at approximately 9 a.m., an officer towed an abandoned red tagged vehicle on the 100 block of Karlann Drive. A report was taken.

On 4/8/24, at approximately 4:15 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a hit & run accident which had occurred two days earlier at the Century parking garage. A report was taken.  

On 4/8/24, at approximately 10:38 p.m., a deputy was contacted by the manager on duty at a casino located in the 100 block of Main Street on the report of a theft. A suspect was not located. The theft was determined to be a gaming crime and a report was completed.

On 4/9/24, at approximately 1 p.m., a male and female party walked into the outer Sheriff's office lobby claiming that they had active warrants and wanted to turn themselves in. Upon verifying the identity and warrant status for both parties, officers took both into custody where after it was discovered that the male party violated his active Protection Order. The male party was charged, notified, and booked into the Gilpin County Detention Facility without further incident.  

On 4/9/24, at approximately 1:14 p.m., a female party came to the Sheriff's office to turn herself in on an outstanding warrant. She was arrested and a report was written.

On 4/9/24, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to The Century Casino in reference to a theft and a report was completed.

On 4/9/24, at approximately 10:53 a.m., an officer was flagged down by a male party at the location of 5312 Highway 119. A report was completed.

On 4/9/24, at approximately 11:41 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Plutus Drive in Black Hawk. A report was completed.

On 4/10/24, a summons was issued to a resident of the county for dogs at large in the unincorporated Gilpin County.

On 4/11/24, an officer was dispatched to a suspicious incident in Gilpin County. A deceased dog was found. There were no signs of trauma to the dog and it appeared they died due to natural causes. The dog was scanned for a microchip but nothing was found. A report was made.

On 4/10/24, at approximately 5:23 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a citizen assist located at 237 Quartz Road. Dispatch informed the officer to contact the reporting party by phone. A report was completed.

On 4/10/24, at approximately 9:48 a.m., Gilpin County Sheriff's Office received a walk in report of mail theft. No suspect information was known and an officer took a report.

On 4/11/24, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a Gilpin County officer responded to the report of a trespass on private property. A suspect was located and issued a citation.

On 4/11/24, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to Lake Gulch Road in reference to a suspicious person. A report was completed and a citation was issued.

On 4/12/24, at approximately 5:29 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a fraud at the Grand Z Casino. A report was taken.

On 4/12/24, at approximately 9:40 p.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of 4th High Street Central on a possible hit and run.

On 4/13/24, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Central City Fire and a Gilpin officer were dispatched to the 400 block of East 4th High Street on a residential case leak. A report was taken.

On 4/13/24, an officer stopped a vehicle for an expired temporary license plate. The plate was taken as evidence as it registered to a different vehicle. A report was made.

On 4/13/24, at approximately 8:41 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy conducted a traffic stop for speeding. During the course of the traffic stop the driver was investigated for driving under the influence and arrested for driving under the influence.

On 4/13/24, an officer stopped a REDDI Report in the city limits of Black Hawk. The driver was arrested and booked into jail after they refused roadsides and testing. A report was taken.

On 4/14/24, at approximately 8:11 a.m., officers responded to the Grand Z Casino on the report of a disturbance. Grand Z surveillance staff had reported that a woman stated her husband would not let her leave her hotel room. A report was taken.

On 4/14/24, at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle fire located at mile post 1 on the Central City Parkway.

On 4/15/24, at approximately 1:31 a.m., officers responded to the area of Wagon Wheel Trail and Highway 119 on the report of an unknown injury accident. Deputies provided assistance and cover for the Colorado State Patrol while they conducted an investigation into the traffic accident which resulted in a DUI arrest and a second DUI arrest.

On 4/15/24, at approximately 8:59 a.m., an officer responded to Grand Z Casino, Central City, on the report of a found loaded pistol magazine. The magazine was seized and booked into evidence for safe keeping.

On 4/16/24, at approximately 5:08 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop. An investigation was conducted and a party was given a citation.

On 4/17/24, at approximately 12 p.m., a Gilpin County officer completed a certified VIN inspection Gilpin County. A report was completed.

On 4/18/24, at approximately 9:59 a.m., an officer was dispatched to handle a cold child abuse and possible neglect. A report was completed.

On 4/18/24, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at an address in unincorporated Gilpin County. All parties were contacted and the issues were resolved. A report was taken.

On 4/19/24, at approximately 10:57 a.m., Gilpin County officers responded to the report of a fight in progress. A Gilpin County officer, Colorado State Patrol Trooper and a Black Hawk Police officer arrived on scene. Upon further investigation it was determined that no fight had occurred and it was a verbal altercation. No arrests were made or charges filed.

On 4/19/24, at approximately 2 p.m., an in-custody inmate was booked in on one new warrant.

On 4/20/24, at approximately 5:06 p.m., an officer was dispatched to an abandoned motor vehicle in the westbound lane of traffic on Highway 46. The vehicle was a traffic hazard and was towed.

On 4/21/24, at approximately 6:41 p.m. an officer responded to Highway 119 near milepost 3.5 on the report of a single vehicle accident. The deputy remained on scene until relieved by a Colorado State Trooper.

On 4/22/24, at approximately 4:35 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a cold assault when the reporting party arrived at the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office. A report was taken.

On 4/23/24, at approximately 3:16 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Highway 119 in reference to a motor vehicle accident and a report was completed.

On 4/23/24, at approximately 11:00 a.m., a Gilpin County officer completed a Certified VIN inspection on a vehicle for a county resident in the area of 80422. A report was completed later.

On 4/23/24, at approximately 11:20 a.m., a Gilpin County officer took a report for an alleged mail theft. The allegation was unfounded. A report was completed later.

On 4/23/24, at approximately 1:08 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Gilpin County Sheriff's Office located. The officer was further advised that the party wanted to report a criminal mischief. A report was completed.

On 4/23/24, at approximately 8:19 p.m., a person came to the lobby of the Gilpin County Jail to turn themselves in on an active warrant.

On 4/23/24, at approximately 9:17 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on the Central City Parkway. A party was arrested for DUI.

On 4/23/24, a female party was brought to the Gilpin County Detentions Facility. Her actions required a use of force from officers. No parties involved sustained injuries. A report was made and proper documentation was filed.

On 4/24/24, at approximately 8:24 a.m., a Gilpin County officer dispatched a mortally wounded animal. A report was completed later.

On 4/24/24, at approximately 11:48 p.m., Gilpin County Sheriff's Office received a report of a stolen vehicle from a resident who had purchased it and then discovered it was stolen. A deputy responded to the address and verified that the vehicle was stolen, had it towed, and advised Denver Police Department who initially entered the vehicle as stolen on September 15, 2022.

On 4/24/24, an officer was dispatched to a possible cold burglary, upon arrival there were no signs of forced entry and nothing was missing, just a television left on in a bedroom. A report was made for a suspicious incident.

On 4/24/24, at approximately 7:17 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 15000 block of Highway 119 in reference to a traffic complaint and a report was completed.

On 4/24/24, at approximately 8:15 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a cold assault.

On 4/26/24, at approximately 2:45 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Century Casino in reference to a theft and a report was completed.

On 4/26/24, at approximately 1:18 p.m., an officer was dispatched to investigate a safe2tell. The subjects of the safe2tell resided in Gilpin County. A report was taken.

On 4/26/24, an officer contacted a party on a welfare check. Party was found to be under the influence and was arrested for investigation of DUI. Charges were filed.

On 4/27/24, at approximately 8:26 p.m., an officer took a phone report of a theft which occurred in the 2600 block of South Beaver Creek Road.

On 4/28/24, at approximately 5:50 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a suspicious incident located in the 100 block of North Dory Lakes Drive. A report was taken.

On 4/29/24, at approximately 4:32 p.m., an officer responded to the report of  harassment at the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office. A report was taken.

On 4/29/24, at approximately 10:38 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop. A summons was issued to the driver with a court date and a fake temporary tag was seized.

On 4/29/24, at approximately 1:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to 5312 Highway 119 in Gilpin County in reference to a disturbance and a report was completed.

On 4/30/24, at approximately 7:58 a.m., a Gilpin County officer was dispatched to the 6000 block of Virginia Canyon Road in reference to found property. A report was completed later.

On 4/30/24, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a Gilpin County officer completed a certified VIN inspection on a vehicle in the unincorporated Gilpin County. A report was completed.

On 4/30/24, at approximately 10:24 a.m., the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office received a report of parts from a stolen vehicle recovered from the 1000 block of Smith Hill Road that had been taken to

Gilpin County Road and Bridge shop. A deputy arrived at the county shop and verified that the vehicle had been stolen and took a report and had the parts towed by a local towing company to their yard.

On 4/30/24, at approximately 10:43 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a report of found property located at City Hall.  

On 4/30/24, at approximately 12:44 p.m., a Gilpin County officer responded to the area of the 100 block of Main Street in Central City in reference to a motor vehicle crash. There was property damage only. A report was completed later.

On 4/30/24, at approximately 3:47 p.m., Gilpin County Sheriff's Office received a report of a disturbance in progress. Deputies arrived on scene to investigate and issued a male party a summons.

On 4/30/24, at approximately 5:04 p.m., a deputy responded to the 200 block of Lawrence Street in Central City on the report of stolen vehicle parts. A report was taken.

On 4/30/24, at approximately 9:49 p.m., a deputy responded to a potential armed robbery. The vehicle associated with the alleged crime was located. A male party inside the vehicle was arrested on other charges not related to the original crime.
