Studio Tour Spotlight: Art at the Center

Posted

Three times per year, the Nederland Community Center and the volunteer Art Committee invite Nederland area artists to participate in a quarterly art show.

Once artists are accepted, a panel selects artwork to display during the next show. Artists are also recognized and honored during a reception, generally hosted within ten days of showcasing the artwork.

The reception is an opportunity for guests to learn about the artists, ask questions, and listen to artists talk about their work while area musicians provide ambiance. Guests enjoy local restaurant cuisine and beverages.

“Best in Show” awards are given in the painting and photography categories and fiber art, jewelry, and sculpture categories.

Selected art is on display for three to four months, providing a feast for the eyes of Community Center visitors. Art at the Center is a Nederland Community Center dream of becoming a vibrant hub, highlighting Nederland’s image as an emerging artisan center.

Every four months, an estimated 15 to 25 artists’ works are showcased, from watercolor, acrylic, oil, colored pencil, cold wax, and oil paintings to photography, collage, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, and more!

Art at the Center was born in 2009 and has been growing strong as a place for local artists to share their talents with the community. Art at the Center has come a long way from its first wine and cheese event during an October snowstorm, during which 200 guests showed their support.

Art at the Center is located at 750 Highway 72, Nederland. To learn more, visit https://www.nederlandcommunitycenter.org/art-at-the-center or give them a call at 303-619-0804.
