The first day of school is always filled with excitement and a bit of nervousness. At Nederland Elementary School (NES), parents started to drop off their kids a little after 8 a.m. on August 14, 2024. These students found their teachers, who were eagerly awaiting them outside.
Then the big buses pulled up and the excitement elevated, as many more kids joined the classes. Old friends greeted each other while teachers made sure new students were introduced so they could feel included into older, more established groups. There would be no strangers here after the first few minutes.
The little ones were wide-eyed and a little tentative, hesitant. On the other hand, the oldest ones had it down, and strode confidently into their last year at NES.
